Thanks In the end cameras are just tools, different tools for different jobs. The Nikon D800 has been very popular for its high resolution. But I've also seen plenty of high-res photos from the Canon 5D Mk 2 and 3. Lenses also make a big difference. I don't plan to switch away from Nikon, I like the way their cameras feel
I got very lucky, we stopped at north beach first and the sky was completely blue with no clouds. Then we drove to the lighthouse and as we got there low clouds appeared on the horizon. At first I didn't even plan to take my camera out of the car. The whole show lasted about 5-10 minutes at most before the sky became fully overcast and drab. It's a hell of a drive to make for the chance at a sunset, I doubt I would get that lucky again.
Yeah, one of my friends who was with me said the last time he went there (Pt. Reyes) it was all foggy and he couldn't take any shots at all. The weather was perfect this past Sunday, sunny and minimum wind. Haha... it's always a hit-n-miss with the weather. Sometimes Mother Nature isn't very cooperative so we just have to have some luck. On our way back to San Francisco we caught the great sunset over Stinson Beach. (See photo I just uploaded).
